Bobbie Jean (Carpenter) Cherry

Funeral services for Bobbie Jean Carpenter Cherry, 78, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, August 27, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Eric Koenig and Mr. Jimmy Runnels officiating. Graveside committal will follow in the Old Palestine Cemetery at 11:30 am, in Alto.
Mrs. Cherry was born January 27, 1937 in Lufkin, Texas to the late Lela Mae (Bishop) and George Carpenter and died Monday, August 24, 2015 in Lufkin.
Mrs. Cherry had resided in Lufkin since 1997. She retired from Lufkin Industries after fifteen years as a secretary. In addition to Lufkin industries she was employed by Texas Foundry for two years and Carrier Air Conditioning in Little Rock, Arkansas for thirteen years. She was One of Jehovah’s Witnesses who attended the East Congregation.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Hollie Cherry of Lufkin; grandson, Ryan Moore and his wife, Dedra of Lufkin; granddaughter, Regan Moore; great-granddaughters, Mallory Moore, Kendall Moore, and Hadley Moore all of Lufkin; sister, Delma Mayette of Lufkin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Billie and Bob Angel of Pearland and Mary and James Holcomb of Rusk; special friends, Jimmy and Linda Runnels of Lufkin, Gordan and Anna Eagle, Dana and Jeff Lummus, and Weston and Renae Lummus all of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Ralph Lindsey of Jacksonville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.L. Cherry; parents; brothers, C.W. Carpenter and Joe Carpenter.
Pallbearers will be George Brookshire, Anthony Holcomb, David Wheeler, Greg Fenn, Ryan Moore, and Jeff Lummus.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or the charity of your choice.
Special thanks to the staff of Hospice in the Pines for their compassionate care.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., prior to the service, Thursday morning at the funeral home.
