Graveside services for Bonnelle Elizabeth Dark, 88, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, August 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Sharp Cemetery in Milam County, Texas.

Bonnelle Elizabeth Dark was born October 3, 1926 in Milam County, Texas to the late Hicks and “Bessie” Garner, and died Thursday, August 13, 2015 at PineCrest Retirement Community.

She was valedictorian of her high school class at Sharp High School in Milam County, Texas. In 1946 she married Clayton Dark, Sr., and they were married 67 years before the death of Clayton in December 2013. Bonnie was a dedicated wife and mother. She was an active church member until her health began to fail.

Bonnie and Clayton relocated from their home in Amarillo, Texas to PineCrest Retirement Community in Lufkin in 2007. Bonnie was full of grace, pride and dignity. She loved her Lord, her husband, her two sons, good manners, good grammar and good penmanship.

Bonnie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clay and Felicia Dark of Lufkin and Richard and Karen Dark of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Clay Dark III of Mansfield, John Dark of Cedar Park, Kathryn Hart of Magnolia, Rebecca Dark, a traveler, David Dark of Crawfordsville, Indiana and Daniel Dark of Indianapolis, Indiana; step-grandchildren, Christi Rowe, Clint Oliver and Clay Oliver, all of Lufkin; four great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Able of Buckholts, Texas, Martha Garth of Lubbock and Beverly Key of Austin.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. Richard Roby and the nursing staff of PineCrest Retirement Community.
