Richard was a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend. He lived his life with humor and enthusiasm. He was a skilled and avid hunter and loved life and time in the outdoors. It would appear that he never met a stranger. He was quick with a joke, and long on personality, a good story, or lively debate. He was the owner and operator of Brake Express, and provided honest repairs and service to thousands of customers for over 20 years. He gave back generously to the community, and could be called upon to help a family in need with vehicle repairs. He was a champion chef and won many awards for his barbecue cooking. He participated in countless charity cook off benefits where his time and talents helped many a family in need. His ribs were about the best you ever had, and he could be counted on to deliver them to family or friends after hours of cooking around a hot pit. He had a broad range of Interests and loved equally between John Wayne westerns and Monty Python. He had a love for music, and could sing with a voice that would surprise you. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and Cross Timbers Cowboy Church of Lufkin. He leaves behind a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly. He departed this life far too early, which is surprising as Richard rarely arrived at his destination on time. His unique wit, contagious spirit, and perspective on life will be missed by all that knew him.
