Funeral services for Daron “Clay” Cox, 47, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, July 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Leon Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born October 31, 1967 in Lufkin, Texas to James and Linda (Bynum) Cox, and died Sunday, July 26, 2015 in a Houston hospital.
Mr. Cox was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He had been employed with Lufkin Rubber and Gasket for more than 20 years. Clay enjoyed snow skiing, and loved spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He attended Eastview United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his parents, James and Linda Cox of Lufkin; sisters, Brandy Turney and husband Matt, Brook Rast and husband Daniel, Cassey Cox and spouse Casey, and Candy Cox and fiancé Patrick Bentley, all of Lufkin; brother, Shane Cox and Dennis Warr of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Kathy Cox Burr and husband Hutch of Lufkin; nieces and nephews, Kaleigh Cox, Ashlynn Rast, Aaron Cox, Kelsi Cox, Preslie Turney, Caleb Hudnall, Carigan “Gus” Hudnall, Mya Turney, and Avery Cox; and numerous other relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. James Shonn Cox; maternal grandparents, W.D. and Maurine Bynum; and paternal grandparents, James Edward and Vester Mae (Roberts) Cox.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Cox, Tracy Hinson, David Lively, Hutch Burr, Nicholas Corley and Shan McGuire.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Turney, Daniel Rast, Patrick Bentley, Dennis Warr, Cheryl Pope, Michele “Chele” Hinson, and Glenn Cox.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
