Mass of Christian Burial for Robert J. Elliott, 67, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at 12:00 noon at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Nogalus Prairie. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Elliott was born February 22, 1948 in Apple Springs, Texas to the late Leona Elizabeth (Williams) and Joseph Robert Elliott, and died Saturday, July 18, 2015 in a local hospital. He had resided in Lufkin for 43 years.
Mr. Elliott served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He studied Criminal Justice at Angelina College and Stephen F. Austin State University, and attained Master Peace Officer classification. His law enforcement career began in 1973 with the Lufkin Police Department. Mr. Elliott was employed by Lufkin Industries from 1977-1997. He returned to law enforcement under the leadership of Sheriff Kent Henson, retiring in 2009. Throughout his career he maintained his association with law enforcement as a Reservist. Mr. Elliott was a lifetime member of the NRA, and a member of the V.F.W. and D.A.V. He was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia (Butler) Elliott of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Ramona Elliott of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Jeremy Thomas of Hudson; granddaughter, Grace Elizabeth Elliott of Lufkin; grandsons, Nathan Graham Elliott of Lufkin and Hayden Lane Thomas, of Hudson; sisters and brother-in-law, Elna Hutto of Lufkin, Bonnie Emerson of Hudson, Linda and Roger Cheney of Fuller Springs, and Shirley Pope of Houston; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Debbie Brooks of Lufkin and Wayne and Liz Brooks of Apple Springs; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Brooks; and brother, Eugene Brooks.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home, prior to the rosary.
