Roland Paul Timme, Jr.

Funeral services for Roland Paul Timme, Jr., 75, of Tyler will be held Friday, July 10, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene, Pastor Jeremy Yancey, and Pastor Tom Maddux officiating. Interment will follow in the Largent Cemetery. Mr. Timme was born December 6, 1939 in Houston, Texas to the late Leah (Hickman) and Roland Paul Timme, Sr., and died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in Lufkin. Mr. Timme had resided in Tyler for 26 years, and had previously resided in Lufkin for 20 years. He served in the United States Army. He worked in the steel building industry for 50 years. Mr Timme played baseball for Rice University. He is in the Rice Baseball Hall of Fame. He also played for the Minnesota Twins Organization. He was a volunteer at the Trinity Mother Francis Hospital and was the first person to volunteer to start rocking the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Trinity Mother Francis. Mr. Timme was a member of the Grace Community Church of Tyler. Survivors include his wife, Ladelle (Montgomery) Timme of Tyler; sons, Roland Paul “Buddy” Timme III and wife Nicolle of Lufkin, Jeffrey Lee Timme and wife Erin of Bullard; grandchildren, Callie Timme, Morgan Young, Cole Tucker, Julia Timme, Graham Young, Lexi Timme, Katie Timme, Averie Tucker, Jake Timme, Claudia Young, Kade Tucker, Bret Timme, and Jack Timme; sister, Betty Walling and husband Larry of Onalaska; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Randy Timme. Pallbearers will be Ken Walling, Mark Walling, Randy Bernstein, Cliff Turgeau, Mike Kartye, and Darrel Kotzur. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Eliff, Charlie Free, Bruce Love, Brad Dearing, Gene Norton, Gene Lee, Reverend Bob Lewis, and Brad Peek. Memorial contributions may be made to The University of Texas, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486 Houston, Texas 77210-4486 or the Heart to Heart Hospice, 209 Christie Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
