Funeral services for Fannie Mae Perry, 94, of Lufkin will be held Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with her great-nephew, Greg King, officiating and son-in-law, Joe Ruby, bringing the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Trevat Cemetery in Trinity County. Mrs. Perry was born November 3, 1920 in the Trevat Community of Trinity County, Texas to the late Bessie Mae (Hollis) and Hubert Lankford, Sr., and died Sunday, July 5, 2015 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Perry had resided in Lufkin since 1942. At the time of her death she made the first of five generations, and there were three sets of five in the family. She and her husband owned Perry’s Garage on Atkinson Drive from 1948 until his retirement in 1981. Mrs. Perry was a cashier at Windsor’s Grocery for more than 25 years. She enjoyed cooking and was known as a good cook. She was known to cook for family, friends, church family and neighbors. Mrs. Perry also enjoyed flower gardening and fishing. She had been a member of the Church of Christ since she was a teenager, and currently attended Timberland Drive Church of Christ. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Nelda and Joe Ruby of Lufkin and Margurite “Rita” and Aubrey Johnson of Highlands; granddaughters, Rita Owens of Lufkin, Jo Nell Dugger of Louisville, Kentucky and Sharon Johnson of Highlands; grandsons, Lee Johnson of Lufkin and Allen Johnson of Highlands; 10 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Roy Lankford of Lufkin and Hilton Lankford of Portland, Oregon; sister, Annett Sowell of Nacogdoches; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of more than 60 years, S.N. “Pete” Perry; sister, Margie Westmoreland; and brothers, L.P. Lankford, Wallace Lankford and Hubert Lankford, Jr. Pallbearers will be Jon Christopher Chambers, Alexander Chambers, Bradley Chambers, Roy Lankford, Sonny Sowell and Joe Ruby. Honorary pallbearers will be Aubrey Johnson, Allen Johnson and Lee Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made to Affinity Hospice, 2708 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901, East Texas Food Bank, 3201 Robertson Road, Tyler, Texas 75701, or a charity of your choice. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
