Funeral services for LaVerne Clark Bazar Starkey, 88, of Lufkin, will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Pastor Bryan Lipscomb and Brother Robert Lankford officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery near Apple Springs. Mrs. Starkey was born May 23, 1927 in the Scrub Creek Community of Trinity County, Texas to the late Oda Mae (Terry) and John Edd Clark. She joined her family in heaven on Sunday, June 28, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Starkey was retired from Cavanaugh Jewelers where she had worked for 17 years as a buyer consultant. She was a charter member of Providence Baptist Church, as well as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Burke Chapter #1098. Mrs. Starkey had resided in the Lufkin area most of her life. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Fran Bazar of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Debby and Robert Lankford of Apple Springs, Renee and Ronny Thompson of Hudson; twelve grandchildren, Chris, Kelly, Kevin, Tim, Ryan, Blake, Bobby, Kimberly, Dwayne, Justin, Rhanda, Lindsay, and Matt; nineteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren including the love of her life, great-great grandson Carter, with another great-great grandchild due in November; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Barbara Clark of Hudson, Sarah Clark of Hudson, Doris and Jack Fouse of Athens, Rufus Dunn of Hudson, Margaret Rambo of Lubbock; special friends, Gene Starkey and Norma Lord; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, David Bazar; brothers, Joe Buck Clark, Orville Clark, and Leroy Clark; and sister, Sarah “Tootie” Dunn. Pallbearers will be Chris Dickens, Kevin Lankford, Tim Bazar, Ryan Stewart, Blake Stewart, Joe Don Clark, and Dennis Lee Clark. Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Baptist Church, 4423 Ted Trout Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75904, or to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904. A special thanks goes to Doctors Willis and Looney, Texas Home Health, Hospice in the Pines, and Kelly, Alyssa, Jay, and Carter for the loving care you gave Nanny. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
