Avis C. Welch

Funeral services for Avis C. Welch, 67, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Felders Chapel Church, near Grapeland in Houston County, with Brother Doyle Hodge and Brother W.R. Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Houston County.

Mrs. Welch was born September 10, 1947 in Tahoka, Texas to the late Lena (Collier) and Sidney Charlie Jenkins, and died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at her residence.

Mrs. Welch had resided in Lufkin for 30 years. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Sidney James and Secelia Hewitt of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Shawn and Richard Davidson of Lufkin; grandchildren, John Lawson, Mellissa Jones, Brittney Havard, Ashley Hewitt, Erica Hewitt, Jeremiah Hewitt, Jesse Davidson, Katie Davidson, Derek LaCovara, and David Enfinger; great-grandchildren, Merrisa Jones, Bryce Jones, Xanden Hutto, Khyler Hutto, Tyson Harshman, and Laceann Cannon; stepson, Andy Welch of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Pam Enfinger of Lufkin; sisters, Shirley Rodenbough and Christine James, both of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rubin Welch; daughter, Audrey Carol Lawson; brothers, Cleo Jenkins, Richard Jenkins, and Sidney “Dub” Jenkins; and sisters, Joyce Wilson and Martha Ivy.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy James, Doyle Hodge, Michael James, Jesse Davidson, Dennis Hodge, and Charles Hodge.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Jenkins, Allen Dale James, Larry Jenkins, and Russell Jenkins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
