Memorial services for Gary Michael “Mike” Reid, 64, of Lufkin will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Troy Christmas officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Mr. Reid was born January 4, 1951 in Nacogdoches, Texas, and died Saturday, June 20, 2015 in a local hospice facility.
Mr. Reid was a lifetime resident of Lufkin and a 1969 graduate of Lufkin High School. He was employed with Champion International for 25 years and was Vice President of the Local Union 1401. Mr. Reid was a member of St. Cyprian’s Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Debbie Reid of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Scarlett Reid of Huntington; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Richard Martinez of Lufkin; grandchildren, Leah Clark, Austin Reid, Morgan Reid, Damian Martinez and Ava Martinez; father, Lowell Arthur Reid of Lufkin; mother, Carolyn (Stevens) Gill of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Leshia Reid of Nacogdoches; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bob and Cozetta Watson, Pat and Georgia Watson, Dot Childers, Nelda and Ed Battenfield, Mary and Coy Brasuell, Wilma and Roger Williams, Jerry Mike Watson and Carolyn Spears; special friends, Donna Dunham, Frank and Evelyn Loving and Dr. Robert Amato; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; and his special dogs, Max and Rosie.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, William and Sara Watson; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Jo Ed and Mamie Watson and Royce Childers; uncles, Sid Reid, E.O. Stevens and wife Matalee, and Kenneth Stevens; aunt, Janette Anderson; and cousin, Kenny Reid.
