Lawrence Fulton Wise

Funeral services for Lawrence Fulton Wise, 82, of Zavalla will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington with Brother Joel Hitchcock officiating. Interment will follow in the Concord Cemetery.

Mr. Wise was born March 21, 1933 in the Norwood Community of San Augustine County, Texas to the late Herman and Emily (Sowell) Wise, and died Saturday, June 20, 2015 in Zavalla.

Mr. Wise had resided in Zavalla and the East Texas area most of his life. He was a member of the Carpenters’ Union and at one time owned his own construction company. He was also a beekeeper. Mr. Wise attended Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Reneè and Mike Gladden of Groves; son, Lawrence Jason Wise of Zavalla; granddaughters and husbands, Kelly and Larry Washburn of Athens, Kristy and Heath Gage of Georgetown, and Kacy Gladden of Groves; grandsons, Jeremy Gladden of New York, New York and Trent Gladden of Groves; great-grandchildren, Dylan Washburn, Rylea Washburn, both of Athens, and Kallyn Gage of Georgetown; sisters, Margie Stringer of Huntington and Verdie Barnes of Zavalla; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Oleta (Evans) Wise; and brothers, Edward Wise, Eldon Wise, and Jackie Wise.

Pallbearers will be John Smith, Howard Smith, Monty Joe Lively, Sunny Wise, Charles Phipps, and Alton Jones.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
