Funeral services for Patsy Cates Modisette, 64, of Diboll, will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Stephen Willis and Brother Hughlan Rayburn officiating. Interment will follow in the Sims/Rocky Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Modisette was born November 17, 1950 in the Rocky Hill Community of Angelina County, Texas, to the late Alice Marie (Temple) and Clifford Arnold Cates. She died Saturday, June 13, 2015 in Houston, Texas, surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Modisette was a retired teacher following a 38-year teaching career, and loved to teach. She had taught at the Huntington High School, and prior to that, at Dunbar School. She was a member of the Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Modisette was an avid reader, loved to sew, and also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Dennis Modisette of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Cassandra “Sandy” and Troy Christmas of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Rebekah Modisette of Splendora; son, Keith Modisette, 2nd Class Petty Officer, U.S. Navy, stationed at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan; grandchildren, Austin Christmas, Jordan Modisette, Kyle Christmas, Jacob Modisette, and Chloe Christmas; sisters and brother-in-law, Darlene Modisette, Wanda and Lynn Clark, all of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Modisette was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Royce Dale Cates; and brother-in-law, Jerry Modisette. Pallbearers will be Austin Christmas, Brent Modisette, Wade Modisette, David Clark, Jared Clark, Joe Clark, Randy Matthews, and Dennis Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Christmas, Jacob Modisette, Josh Clark, Brett Burnett, Jared Bergeron, Russell Daniel, Victor Garcia and Nick Terry. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fuller Springs Missionary Baptist Church, 5003 Fuller Springs Dr., Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
