Memorial services for Bobby Lovell, 65, of Etoile will be held Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Cary Modisett officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home. Bobby was born April 29, 1950 in Pilot Point, Texas, and passed away Saturday, May 23, 2015 in a local hospital. He was a lifetime resident of East Texas and retired as a foreman from Temple Inland Fiberboard in Diboll where he worked for 38 years. Bobby was also a certified peace officer, serving in Diboll, Zavalla, and surrounding areas for 17 years, considering it his hobby because he loved it so much. He was a sports fanatic and officiated baseball and basketball for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to deer hunt especially. He loved music and loved to sing. Bobby never met a stranger. He was a friend to everyone and always had a joke to tell. He loved watching his grandsons play sports and tried to never miss a game. He was known by many of his close friends as “Daddyo” because he was like a father figure to them. He loved the Lord and was of the Baptist faith. Bobby was a wonderful husband, father, Big Pop, friend, and mentor. Survivors include his wife, Caree’ Carroll Lovell of Etoile; son, Brandan Lovell and wife Toni of Lufkin; daughter, Chelsey Barbe and husband Hunter of Lufkin; grandsons, Colby and Colton Lovell; granddaughter and great-grandson, Samantha Knight and Brooks Allman; sisters, Berniece Burney, Norma Bailey and Margaret Adams; brothers, Butch Barge and wife Virginia and Brent Barge and wife Sue; beloved stepmother, Annie Barge Lovell; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved dearly; special cousin, Lou Anne Cochran; special friends, Steve and LaNell Rice, Billy and Linda Lewis, Raymond and Stephanie Hoelscher, Albert Hutson, Barbara McGuire, and his “precious” Melodia Lacy Murdock. He was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Lovell, Sr.; mother, Melba Nerren; sister, Liz Koepp; and brother-in-law, Malcolm Adams. Memorial contributions may be made to Winnie Berry Animal Shelter, c/o Humane Society of Angelina County, P.O. Box 472, Lufkin, Texas 75902. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon prior to the services.
