Willie Lee Vann, Jr.

Funeral services for Willie Lee Vann, Jr., 76, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Poage officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Mr. Vann was born December 21, 1938, in Forrest, Texas to Willie Lee Vann, Sr. and Mattie (Bostick) Vann, and died Monday, May 18, 2015 in Lufkin.

Mr. Vann had resided in Lufkin for most of his life and grew up in the Wells and Alto areas. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Jewett Scott Trucking. Willie enjoyed small engine repair and restoring old cars. He served in the U.S. Army and was of the Christian faith.

Survivors include daughters, Vickie (Vann) Ferguson of Lufkin and Venissa (Vann) Jacobs and husband Kevin of Pollok; sons, Willie “Shane” Vann, Sr. of Wells and Max Anthony Vann of Lufkin; grandchildren, Laura Ferguson, Clayton Jacobs, Ryan Jacobs, Shayna Vann, Shayla Vann and Willie “Little Will” Vann; sisters, Dorothy (Dot) Rocka of Lilbert and Martha (Mot) Lusk of Cushing; and numerous other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Laura (Poland) Vann; sisters, Joyce Lowery and Aliene Jones; brothers, Charles “Charlie” Vann and James “Jimmy” Vann.

Pallbearers will be Gary Vann, Bo Vann, James Vann, Paul Vann, Kenny Rocka and Greg Rocka.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cleo Brooks and Hubert Lawson.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
