Graveside services for Edna M. Mathis, 91, of Lufkin will be held Monday, May 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gann Cemetery with Pastor Rick Williams officiating.
Mrs. Mathis was born October 21, 1923 in Morrow, Louisiana to Harry and Orelia (Parreau) Marcotte, and died Friday, May 15, 2015 in Lufkin.
Mrs. Mathis had resided in Lufkin for 52 years. She was the wife of the late J.C. Mathis for 44 years. She had worked at the Lufkin State School as a PBX operator for more than 11 years. Mrs. Mathis loved gardening and enjoyed her roses and sharing them with her friends. She was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary and of Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Loretta Ann Bonds Bordelon and husband Phil of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Paula Jean Bonds Brown Phillips of Joaquin; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Marie Briley and husband Dudley of Opelousas, Louisiana; sisters-in-law, Versa Marcotte of Louisiana, Margie Mathis, Sue Phillips, and Nita Sweat, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Linda Kay Bonds Blanchard; grandson, Brian Keith Brown; granddaughter, Jamie Marie Bordelon; grandson,Thomas Eric Bordelon, Sr.; and brother, George W. Marcotte.
