Memorial services for Reginald Squyres, 82, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Reverend Martin Doran and Reverend Cindy Doran officiating.
Mr. Squyres was born November 7, 1932 in Henderson, Texas to R.B. “Bunk” and Mary Margaret “Mae” (Scrogins) Squyres, and died March 10, 2015 in Mexico.
Mr. Squyres resided in Lufkin most of his life and most recently lived in Mexico. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in sales for various businesses. Mr. Squyres was very adventurous and enjoyed bicycle trips across the United States. At the age of 61 he rode his bicycle to Washington, D.C. He was a member of the Lufkin First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Valinskas of Houston; granddaughter, Amilia Balinsaas of Austin; brother-in-law, Claude Smithhart of Lufkin; special niece and nephew, Suzy and Darrell Durham of Lufkin; cousin, Cathrine Mann of Austin; special friends, Ardie and Guesna Dixon of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bryce Squyres and Ralph Squyres; and sisters, Ruth Grant, Rachel Perry Dowling and Margaret Smithhart.
