Memorial services for Claudine Lovejoy, 87, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Donnie Fenton officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.
Ms. Lovejoy was born April 9, 1928 in Wilson, Oklahoma to James Madison and Tommie (Tilley) Moore, and died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in a local hospital. She had resided in Lufkin for 40 years.
Claudine was a member for many, many years of the Pilot International which included the Pilot Club of Lufkin, Inc. and the Pilot Club of Henderson, Inc. She was a very creative and fun-loving member who brought in entertainment from professionals to local people in her shows like “Hee Haw”. She was President and dishwasher and director and your “go-to girl” for anything needed. She enjoyed all her community activities and brought a lot of fun and laughter to people of all ages.
Claudine worked for Woody’s Toys, Lynn Holland Sales, the Angelina Mall, and City of Lufkin Narcotics Task Force before she became employed for the Museum of East Texas. On December 10, 2011 a Proclamation by former Mayor Jack Gordon, on behalf of the City Council of Lufkin, was presented to Claudine, “the Museum of East Texas celebrated Claudine Lovejoy as a quintessential professional whose dedication and tenacious determination to the Museum is admired by those whose lives she has touched during her 18 years of service to the museum.” Throughout all her years of working, she made a difference and a lasting impression on all. Her work ethic was like none other, her energy and loyalty were unsurpassed, and she always gave 110% to anything she did.
Survivors include her daughter, Linda Lee Berry; granddaughter, Christina Lee and husband Robert Wellborn; grandson, Jamie Arnold and wife Karli; granddaughters, Leigh Ann Bass and Tommie Jo Yeates; great-grandchildren, Colby Ray McKnight and wife Brianna; Landon James Arnold; great-great-grandson, Maddox Ray McKnight; and sister, Mat Page of Anna, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Tommie Moore.
