Funeral services for Evie M. (Walker) Scruggs, 85, of Huntington will be held Monday, April 27, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Calvin Kersh and Mr. Bruce Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Ben Walker Cemetery. Mrs. Scruggs was born May 29, 1929 in Huntington, Texas to the late Ernest and Norma (Foster) Walker. She died Friday, April 24, 2015 at The Joseph House. Mrs. Scruggs was a retired self-employed beautician. She lived most of her life in Huntington and had also lived for 25 years in Beaumont. Mrs. Scruggs was a member of the Huntington Garden Club and the Texas Pilot Car Association. She loved snow skiing, traveling, gardening and painting. She was a member of Lala Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include her brothers and sisters and their spouses, Robert and Bertie Walker, Dorothy and Sammy Crain, Gay Nell Havard, and Ernest W. Walker, all of Huntington; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Frances (Scruggs) Harris of Cullman, Alabama; stepdaughter and step-grandson, Frankie and Justin of Alabama; one great-granddaughter; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Scruggs; sister, Bonnie (Walker) Hartzog; and sister-in-law, Syble Walker. Pallbearers will be Patrick Havard, Tony Walker, David Myers, Heath Yount, Brent Reynolds, and Gerald Wayne Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews. The family requests that donations be made to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554, Lufkin, Texas 75915. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Lufkin.
