Mass of Christian Burial for Simona Collins Torres will be celebrated on Monday, April 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Fr. Francis O’Dowd, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Ray Vann at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Carroway Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the Rosary from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Torres, 85, of Lufkin, was born November 24, 1929 in San Diego, Texas to the late Maria Concepcion Villarreal and Felix Couling Arredondo. She died Thursday, April 23, 2015 at her residence.
Mrs. Torres was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She had resided in Lufkin for the past 56 years. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mrs. Torres was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Council #3404, and the Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include her eight sons and daughters-in-law, Louis and Ann Torres, Pablo, Jr. and Lynn Torres, Daniel and Jeannie Torres, Tony and Shelia Torres, Jimmy and Karla Torres, Michael and Jeannie Torres, Johnny and Mary Torres, and Henry and Michelle Torres, all of Lufkin; her one daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Richard Yount of Huntington; daughter-in-law, Elaine Torres of Huntington; twenty-six grandchildren; thirty-three great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters, Antonia Hinojosa and Angelita Couling, both of San Diego, Texas; brother, Raul Couling Arrendondo of San Diego, Texas; special lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Francesca Barrera and her husband Armando of San Diego, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Pablo J. Torres, Sr.; son, Ruben Torres; granddaughter, Rachael Torres; four brothers; and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be Jacob Torres, Larry Torres, Joshua Yount, Stephen Torres, Ty Torres, Jeremy Torres, and Cory Torres. Honorary pallbearers will be her sons and grandchildren.
