Carl Pavlic

December 16, 1920 — April 22, 2015

Funeral services for Carl Pavlic, 94, of Diboll, will be held Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Diboll with Rev. C.G. “Buster” Grigg and Pastor Kenny Hibbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with military honors.

Mr. Pavlic was born December 16, 1920 in Roganville, Texas to the late Julia (Krulich) and Antonio Pavlic. He went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at The Joseph House.

Mr. Pavlic graduated from Jasper High School and attended Texas A&M for one semester before being given an all-expense paid trip to the Island of Guam compliments of Uncle Sam. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from June 1943 until February 1946. Carl married Bertha Mae Durdin when he returned to Jasper. They moved to Diboll shortly after that and entered the grocery business. The Pavlics were the proprietors of Lynn’s Food Center and later Pavlic’s Supermarket. The couple made Diboll their home for more than 60 years. His greatest joy in life was to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were longtime members of the First Baptist Church of Diboll, where Carl served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He also served on the Board of Directors for First Bank and Trust East Texas. In addition, Carl served his community as a member of the Diboll I.S.D. School Board and as a member of the Diboll City Council.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Cathy Pavlic of Diboll; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Randy Theilig of Fulshear; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Janet Pavlic of Hudson; grandchildren and their spouses, Neal Pavlic of Austin, Britton Pavlic of Fort Worth, Clay and Tyler Pavlic of Lufkin, Jonathan and Melissa Theilig of Fulshear, SSgt. Chase and Elyce Pavlic of Las Vegas, and Carla and Kason Knight of Tomball; great grandchildren, Aidan Pavlic, Ashlee Pavlic, Knox Pavlic, Gavin Pavlic, Colton Theilig, and Korbin Knight; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his bride of 65 years, Bertha Pavlic; five brothers, Tony, Walter, Joe, John, and Frank Pavlic; and two sisters, Julie Morgan and Frances Pavlic.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Pavlic’s grandsons, SSgt. Chase Pavlic, Neal Pavlic, Britton Pavlic, Clayton Pavlic, Jonathan Theilig, and Kason Knight.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of the First Baptist Church of Diboll.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Diboll, P.O. Box 627, Diboll, Texas 75941, or to The Joseph House, P.O. Box 150554, Lufkin, Texas 75915.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Diboll.
