Benjamin Dale Hunter

Funeral services for Benjamin Dale Hunter, 76, of Lufkin, will be held Friday, April 24, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Aubrey Knox and Brother Wes Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Hunter was born January 22, 1939 in Manchester, Arkansas to the late Robert C. Hunter and Margie Arlene (Gann) Hunter. He died Monday, April 20, 2015 in a Lufkin hospice facility. Mr. Hunter was retired from Brookshire Brothers following 40 years of service. He had resided in Lufkin since 1972. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669, A.F. & A.M. Mr. Hunter was a member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church and the Barnabas Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Hunter of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Ben and Melanie Hunter of Marietta, Georgia, and Brad and Sandi Hunter of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Scot Henderson of McKinney; grandchildren, Jeff Hunter of Addison, Jon Hunter, Josh Hunter, both of Marietta, Georgia, Skyler Hunter of Lufkin, Hunter Henderson and Shelby Henderson, both of McKinney; brother, Joseph J.W. Hunter of Arkansas; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and J.D. Wood of Arkansas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Alma Hunter of Arkansas, Linda and Kenneth Loyd of Gilmer, Betty Bryant, Marilyn and Neil Phelan, Winston and Susan Bryant, and Wendel and Oleta Bryant, all of Arkansas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Johnny Raymond Bryant and Hestie Kathryn (Killian) Bryant; brother, Charles Hunter; and sister-in-law, Linda Hunter. Pallbearers will be Jim Arnold, Ray Campbell, Randy Deal, Joe Ben Gann, Reece Hubbard, Mike Jones, Phil Metzinger, Bill Morgan, Roger Parker, and Lester Underwood. Honorary pallbearers will be Brent Brookshire, Gene Brookshire, Ray Bachelor, Buddy Colmer, Robert Gilmer, Jerry Johnson, Jerry Kelly, Thomas Lawther, the late Rick Conarroe, the late Bill Simpson, the late Oscar Brookshire, and the late R.A. Brookshire. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Ave., Lufkin, Texas 75904. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
