Funeral services for Ora Nell DeWoody Jones, 82, of Huntington will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jackson Colwell and Dr. Jerry Jones officiating. Graveside committal will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery with Reverend Andy James officiating. Mrs. Jones was born August 25, 1932 in Huntington, Texas to James A. DeWoody and Georgia (Roberts) DeWoody, and died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 in Huntington. Mrs. Jones had resided in Huntington most of her life. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener and was especially fond of roses. She also enjoyed her farm, horses and cows. Ora Nell loved her family and was a wonderful caregiver to her husband and son during their illnesses. She was a member of Huntington First Baptist Church where she taught the Lydia Sunday School Class for many years. She was dedicated to the Lord and helped to organize the first Children’s Church at Huntington First Baptist. She was loved by many and affectionately called “Mammy”. Survivors include brother, Jimmie DeWoody of Odessa; sisters, Pauline Capps of Huntington, Marie Horton and husband, Ted of Lufkin; daughters, Barbara Stubblefield of Huntington, Beverly Schlein and husband Stephen of Houston; granddaughters, Gale Oliver and husband Jason, Tiffany Webb and husband Kenneth, Josey Armstrong and husband Chance, Alex Schlein and Lacey Jones; grandsons, Trey Jones and Patrick Schlein; great-grandchildren, Jayci Oliver, Cole Oliver, Caleb Webb, Logan Armstrong and Bryce Armstrong; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold L. Jones, Sr.; son, Harold L. Jones, Jr.; son-in-law, Pat Stubblefield; sister, Mollie Wilson; brothers, Hugh DeWoody, Andrew (Sonny) DeWoody, Jr. and Bobby DeWoody. Pallbearers will be Dana DeWoody, Joey Horton, Rev. Andy James, Randy Holloway, Jonathan Jones and Jason Welch. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert DeWoody, Tommy Capps, Randy DeWoody, David Horton, Kelly Jones and Rudy Jones. Memorial contributions may be made to Huntington First Baptist Church Library Fund, PO Drawer E, Huntington, Texas 75949. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
