Funeral services for Harold B. Wood, 78, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Gene Hazell officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery. Mr. Wood was born December 15, 1936 in Cullman, Alabama to Angela Mae (Gaye) and Harold Bascome Wood, Sr., and died Tuesday, March 24, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Mr. Wood had resided in Lufkin since 1981. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Gibson Floor Company in Houston following 25 years of employment. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and at one time drove at the Almeda Speedway. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Wood was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Lily Wood of Lufkin; daughters, Darleen Wood of Lufkin, Charlene Jimenez and husband Michael Struk of Houston, Virginia Mitchell and husband Joe Ray Williamson of Huffman, and Hazel Wood Perez and husband Eduardo of Houston; son, Robert Wood and wife Marina of Houston; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Wood of Jasper; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Wood; daughter, Sherry Wood; brother, Danny Wood; and sister, Nell Benson. Pallbearers will be Joe Ray Williamson, Gabriel Jimenez, Michael Struk, Wesley Todd Mitchell, Robert Wood and Eduardo Perez. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
