Cecil W. Munson

Funeral services for Cecil W. Munson, 75, of Kennard will be held Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Kennard with Pastor Jim Durham officiating. Military honors will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

Mr. Munson was born November 7, 1939, in Romayor, Texas to Ernest Munson and Fay (Cheek) Munson, and died Saturday, March 21, 2015 in Kennard.

Mr. Munson had resided in Kennard for fourteen years and a former resident of Lufkin for twenty years. He briefly served in the U.S. Army. Then he retired as a TSGT after twenty years of service as an airplane mechanic in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Munson also worked for Texas Foundry for twenty years. He loved playing dominoes and gardening. Mr. Munson was a member of First Baptist Church of Kennard.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Martha A. Munson of Kennard; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Von Mitchell of Vidor; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Munson of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Todd Burgess of Kennard; 7 grandchildren, Matthew Mitchell, Rachel Bernal, Alex Reeves, John Hubbard, Zachary Burgess, Tristan Burgess and Ethan Burgess; 2 great-grandchildren, Rosie Bernal and David Bernal; sister, Marie Wilson of Groesbeck; sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Richard Tullos of Ace; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Munson.

Pallbearers will be John Hubbard, Alex Reeves, John Bernal, Ernie Wilson, Robert Munson and Todd Burgess.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ratcliff Sr. Citizen Community Center, PO Box 188, Ratcliff, Texas 75858.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at First Baptist Church of Kennard.
