Corine Luna Cook

Mass of Christian Burial for Corine Luna Cook, 86, of Zavalla will be held Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Fr. Lee Flores and Fr. Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery. Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Huntington.

Mrs. Cook was born June 5, 1928 in Nacogdoches to Frank Luna and Della J. (Cortines) Luna, and died Friday, March 20, 2015 in Huntington.

Mrs. Cook had resided in Zavalla since 1972 and was a homemaker. She was an animal lover and advocate. Corine loved her family and having large family get-togethers. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Survivors include daughters, Rita Smith and husband Dennis of Palacios, Rhonda Ward and husband Michael, and Norma “Tootsie” Cryer and husband Craig, all of Zavalla; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; aunt, Louise Perry of LaMarque; and numerous other family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis P. Cook; daughter, Jeannie Maier Conner; great-granddaughter, Jordan Ann Smith; and a brother, Robert “Sonny” Luna.

Pallbearers will be Kevin White, Dennis Smith, Jr., Jim Bass, Shannon Cryer, Derek Cryer and Patrick Lauren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.

The family extends special thanks to the Huntington Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, to Dr. Pinnamaneni, and to Hospice in the Pines and their staff members for their love and exceptional care of Mrs. Cook.
