Funeral services for Dorothy Newman Spratley, 71, of Lufkin will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Robert Baggett officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mrs. Spratley was born September 13, 1943 in Hemphill, Texas to Edward M. Gray and Onie B. (Payne) Gray and died Friday, March 6, 2015 in a Houston hospital. Mrs. Spratley had resided in Lufkin for most of her life. She worked as a Production Supervisor at Sunbeam Casual Furniture in Nacogdoches for 18 years. She loved geneaology, her flowers and her family. She taught Sunday School for more than 25 years at The Church at Lufkin where she was a member. Survivors include her husband, Wayne Spratley of Lufkin; daughter, Tesa Cook and husband Thomas of Lufkin; step-sons, Brian Spratley of Nacogdoches, Jason Spratley of Tennessee Colony; stepdaughter, Erin Spratley of Wichita Falls; granddaughter, Heather Bradley and husband DeWitt of Bossier City, Louisiana; step-grandchildren, Summer Spratley and Samantha Spratley, Jason Spratley, Jr. and Rachel Spratley, Austin Green, Destiny Mueller and Danny Mueller; brother, Glen Gray and wife Wanda; special friends, Bob and Connie Baggett. She was preceded in death by her parents. Pallbearers will be Travis Cain, Jeremy Sanford, Jim Dickey, DeWitt Bradley, Tommy Cook and Sam Cain. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
