Diann Stanley

Funeral services for Diann Stanley, 70, of Huntington will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Brother Cary Modisett and Brother Cory Capps officiating. Interment will follow in the Treadwell Cemetery. Ms. Stanley was born February 14, 1945 in Hemphill, Texas to Paul M. and Opal (Wyatt) Stanley, and died Monday, February 23, 2015 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. Diann had resided in the Huntington and Zavalla areas most of her life. She was one of the original members of The Stanleys singing group and was well known for her powerful tenor voice. The song most requested for her to sing was “I Know A Man”. She had most recently served as the sound engineer for The Stanleys. Diann loved doing crafts and cooking. She was known for her “picking on” all the children of her family and friends. Ms. Stanley was a member of the Shawnee Church of Jesus Christ. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Trisha and Mike Harvill of Huntington; grandson, Cody Harvill of Huntington; granddaughter, Micah Harvill of Huntington; sisters and brother-in-law, Wanda and Roy Ward of Texarkana, Arkansas and Carolyn Downey of Huntington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas Stanley of Chireno, Michael and Pat Stanley, Kenneth and Sherry Stanley, all of Zavalla, and James and Virginia Stanley of Oakhurst; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Faye Ward; brothers, Junior Stanley, Wayne Stanley and Darwin Stanley; sister-in-law, Maridee Stanley; brother-in-law, John Downey; and nephew, Tommy Stanley. Pallbearers will be Danny Downey, Chris Stanley, David Stanley, Cameron Capps, Tristan Randall, Devon Downey, Chris Kendrick and David Holland, Jr. The family extends special thanks to Rebekah Capps for her love, support and prayers. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
