Funeral services for Garland Lee Hough Walker Ray, 92, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Denman Avenue Baptist Church with Brother Charles M. Roberts and Brother Kevin Roy officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mrs. Ray was born February 7, 1923 in Angelina County, Texas to Sam and Amby (Freeland) Hough, and died Monday, February 16, 2015 in a local nursing home.
Mrs. Ray was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She attended the Moffett School and retired from Lufkin ISD, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Lufkin Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a longtime member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and David Tankersley of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Sue Walker of Houston; grandchildren, Trent Tankersley of Houston, Katie Tankersley of San Antonio, Jenny Nielsen and husband Chase of El Campo, Wayne Matteson and wife Jana of Lebanon, Ohio and Shari Knight of Tyler; eight great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Sandra Hough of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and the father of her children, Roy E. Walker; husband, Nealen Ray; and sister, Geneva Ricks.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Walker, David Tankersley, Trent Tankersley, Chase Nielsen, Bobby Dixon and Randy Turner.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
