Memorial services for Robert L. Hoyer, 78, of Lufkin will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Todd Stracener officiating. Eulogies will be presented by Patrick Holley, Tommie West, Terry Tucker, Jerry Biggs and Ann Sales. Mr. Hoyer was born January 5, 1937 in Buffalo, New York to Fred and Verginia (Dohrow) Hoyer and passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2015 after a short battle from glioblastoma multiforme, surrounded by his loved ones at The Joseph House. Mr. Hoyer recently retired from Home Depot after 20 plus years of employment. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to1969 and had tours of duty in Korea, Ethiopia, and Germany, as well as several U.S. states. Bob will forever be remembered for being a kind, generous, funny and loving person who never met a stranger. He was a lover of the outdoors and on most days could be found working in his yard or flying one of his many remote controlled planes. He was an avid member of the Lufkin Area RC Model Club. Bob leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 52 years, Linda; daughter, Robin Hoyer Tucker; granddaughter, Taryn Tucker Miller and her husband John; sister, Nancy Hoyer Belling and husband Ed of North Tonawanda, New York; brother, Dick Hoyer and wife Francis of Maracaibo, Venezuela; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family would like to personally thank the incredible employees and staffs at Hospice in the Pines and The Joseph House.
