Virgil Powell

Graveside services for Virgil Powell, 74, of Lufkin will be held Friday, February 13, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Largent Cemetery with Reverend Keith Woolf officiating.

Mr. Powell was born July 25, 1940 in Jasper, Texas to Mack Adam and Zora (Roberts) Powell, and died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in a local hospital. He resided in Lufkin most of his life and owned Powell’s Radiator Shop for more than 20 years. Mr. Powell enjoyed camping and loved the Smoky Mountains. He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jane Powell of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Brandy Powell of New Braunfels and Gary and Carrolle Powell of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Greg Stephenson of Lufkin; grandchildren, Denea Matchett, Wade Powell, Stephen Powell, Shay Flowers, Clay Powell, Sara Felts, Selena Stephenson, Riley Powell, Sophie Stephenson, Macie Powell, Andrew Powell, Levi Powell and Emily Powell; eight great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma and Don Hoffman of Missouri and Marie and Jack Tucker of Beaumont; brothers and sister-in-law, Arthur and Judy Powell of Diboll and Milburn Powell of Lufkin; special friends, Faye and Cliff Pinckard and Randy and Toni Herring, all of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and three brothers.

Pallbearers will be Greg Stephenson, Wade Powell, Clay Powell, Chris Flowers and Blake Felts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Matchett and Hunter Matchett.

Memorial contributions may be made to the O’Quinn Baptist Church Building Fund, 7483 US Highway 69 N, Pollok, Texas 75969.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
