David Duren

Funeral services for David Duren, 84, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Hancock and Reagan McClenny officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Duren was born May 9, 1930 in Angelina County, Texas, the son of the late James C. Duren and Ida Mae (Neil) Duren, and passed from this life Sunday, February 8, 2015 in a local nursing home.

David was a loving husband, father, son, grandfather and a strong faithful Christian. He was a member of Timberland Drive Church of Christ where he was a former Elder. His life was that of a faithful follower of the Gospel. He and his wife were active members of the Lufkin Sam’s Chapter RV Travel Club and they traveled extensively. He had a love of the outdoors and particularly fishing. He enjoyed taking family and friends to his special “fishing hole” and having a fish fry of all they caught. David was a logging contractor for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his sons, Daryl Duren of McAllen and Dave Duren and wife Brenda of Lufkin; daughter, Deidra Breckenridge and husband Jeff of Spring; grandchildren, Nick Duren, Callie and Jarle Lillemoen, Steve and Amanda Duren, Randy and Lily Duren, Daniel and Monica Duren, Barett and Amber Duren, David Breckenridge, Scott Breckenridge and Melissa Breckenridge; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Benny Clayton Duren and wife Helen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores (Billingsley) Duren; parents; brother, James Duren; and sisters, Dorothy Duren and Nell Terry.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Duren’s grandsons.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
