Funeral services for Thomas Randall “Randy” Machann, 64, of Zavalla will be held Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Zavalla First Baptist Church with Pastor Jackson Colwell and Dr. Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.
Mr. Machann was born April 28, 1950 in San Angelo, Texas to Edwin John and Edna (Boyett) Machann, and departed this life Monday, February 9, 2015 in New Braunfels, Texas.
Mr. Machann served as a U.S. Army National Guard Reserve paratrooper, was a welder by trade, and later acquired his Bachelors Degree in Education at Stephen F. Austin State University. He taught school for only a short time, but had a positive impact on many of his students. Mr. Machann loved to hunt, fish, and play forty-two with his family. He never met a stranger and had a soft spot in his heart for those less fortunate.
He is survived by his mother, Edna Machann; daughter, Leslie Westbrook; grandchildren, Lauryn Westbrook, Jesse Westbrook and Jake Westbrook; and brothers, Dwaine Machann and Greg Machann.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Machann; and grandparents, Tom and Vera Machann and Ernest and Ora Mae Beard.
Pallbearers will be Dwaine Machann, Greg Machann, Allen Hunt, Mitch Machann, George Cryer, Jr., and Craig Cryer.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
