Mrs. Emma Flo Wood, age 94, of Lufkin, passed away January 25, 2015, at The Joseph House.

Flo was born on January 15, 1921 to William Andrew Herrick and Dessie Allen Herrick in Angelina County.

After graduation from Lufkin High School in 1938, Flo’s first job was as a telephone operator for Lufkin Telephone Exchange. She soon married James Wood and became a life-long homemaker. Flo loved to cook, sew, do embroidery and knit. She especially liked to embroider pillowcases to give away to all of her friends.

Lufkin’s First Baptist Church was where Flo was a life-long member.

Flo is survived by her daughter, Judy Perry of Lufkin; grandson, James Michael Wood of Lufkin; and granddaughter Amanda Lyn Batson of Spring; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her sister-in-law, Clare Herrick; and several nieces and nephews.

Flo was preceded in death by her husband, James Wood, her son, James Rodney Wood, and her son-in-law, Dubby Perry.
