C.J. Havard

Memorial services for C.J. Havard, 80, of Huntington will be held Friday, January 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ozias Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Royce Quave officiating. The church is located 6 miles south of Huntington, just off U.S. Highway 69. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carroway Funeral Home.

Mr. Havard was born May 20, 1934 in the Shawnee Prairie Community, Angelina County, Texas, the last of eight children born to I.D. and Julia (Olds) Havard, and died Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in a local nursing home.

Mr. Havard had resided in Huntington most of his life. He was a log truck driver for various logging companies for 35 years. Mr. Havard was a member of the Shawnee Prairie Baptist Church.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Terry Lane and Linda Havard of Zavalla and Marty Shane and Debbie Havard of Huntington; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 28 years, Sue Carol (Cummings) Havard; mother of his children, Bonnie Sue (Barkley) Havard; great-grandson, Ayden Shane Havard; and seven brothers and sisters.
