Funeral services for Charlie V. McLain, 93, of Lufkin will be held Monday, January 12, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Jones and Jim McDonald officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. in the Bethel Cemetery in Appleby.
Mr. McLain was born in Nacogdoches County to James Rufus McLain and Willie B. (Belk) McLain, and died January 8, 2015 in a local hospital.
Mr. McLain had resided in Lufkin for most of his life. He enjoyed fishing and playing Forty-Two. He served in the U.S Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a member of Union Road Church of Christ.
Survivors include his son, Charlie W. McLain and wife Lenora of Lufkin; sons-in-law George Bennett of Noonday and Michael Cloyd of Lufkin; granddaughters and their spouses, Pam and Jeff Baird of Lufkin, Debi and Paul Morales of Temple and Amy and Taylor Mooney of Katy; grandsons, Steve Cloyd and wife Sheila of Lufkin and Philip McLain of Dallas; 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and one on the way; sisters, Earline Jacobs, Dorothy Skeeters, Iva Clifton, Ruby Skeeters and brother, James McLain, all of Nacogdoches County; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lou Etta McLain; daughters, Judy Cloyd and Charlene Bennett; brother Rufus McLain and Homer Lee McLain.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Whitfield, Glenn Cummings, Wayne Durham, Michael Sneigoski, Chris Sneigoski, and Jeff Baird.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Lawson.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
