Larry V. Chappell

Funeral services for Larry V. Chappell, 76, of Lufkin will be held Friday, January 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John W. Greene officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park. Mr. Chappell was born March 26, 1938 in Reno, Texas to Roy Vernon and Irma Mae (Tidwell) Chappell, and died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Chappell had resided in Lufkin most of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Abitibi Paper Mill. He was once an avid golfer and was a member of the Lufkin Country Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Carmona Hunting Club. Mr. Chappell was an outdoorsman and handyman. He was a Christian and had attended the Church of Christ, as well as Harmony Hill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jane Chappell of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Sarah Chappell of Lufkin; daughters and son-in-law, Jana Chappell of Houston and Deidra and Tim Cruse of Hudson; grandson, Regan Cruse of Hudson; granddaughters, Olivia Cruse of Hudson, Lainey Chappell and Sophie Chappell, both of Lufkin; aunt, Ruby Morgan of Terrell; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his buddy, Chance, a lab mix. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
