Funeral services for Ernest A. McKnight, 69, of Lufkin, will be held Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Horace Fletcher and Brother Wayne Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Wells. Mr. McKnight was born March 20, 1945, in Wells to Harim Bruce McKnight and Esther (Gulledge) McKnight, and died Sunday, December 14, 2014 in a local hospital. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Wells. He was a caring husband, a loving father and “Paw Paw”. He was formerly an Administrative Assistant to Representative Bill Clemmons. Mr. McKnight worked as a Funeral Director Assistant at Carroway Funeral Home. Mr. McKnight resided in Lufkin and Pollok for most of his life. Survivors include his wife, Brenda (Neal) McKnight of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Kristy and Joe Thompson of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Colleen McKnight of Lufkin; step-son, Tracy Escue of Pollok; grandchildren, Colton, Lynzie, Shawn, Christopher, Megan and Justin; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Dakota; sister, Norma Jean Toombs of Etoile; mother-in-law, Avanell Neal of Timpson; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Mr. McKnight was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Lightfoot. Pallbearers will be co-workers and friends at Carroway Funeral Home. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
