Funeral services for Jimmy L. Davis, 75, of Zavalla, will be held Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Broaddus with Pastor Don Lofton and Ken Boyles officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was born September 3, 1939 in Groveton, Texas to Loyd L. and Ruth Mae (Edwards) Davis and died Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Davis had resided in Zavalla for thirty-five years where he previously served as Mayor and Municipal Judge. He was an ordained minister and he pastored several churches in the East Texas area. He was a retired welder, having worked for Brown and Root for twenty-two years. He also served in the U.S. Army military police in France, and was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Broaddus.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Carolyn Marie Jay Davis of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Sue Fletcher of Zavalla; daughters, Kristi Davis of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, and Kimberly Burns and husband Bret of Hudson and Pamela Buckles Landry of Spokane, Washington; granddaughters, Fallon Buschman and husband Bradley of Spring and Jordain Fletcher of Zavalla; grandsons, Dylan Fletcher of Zavalla, Zackary Shepherd of Jacksonville, Florida, Ethan Burns of Hudson and William Bayles II of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; great-granddaughter, Paisley Buschman of Spring; brothers, Lloyd Jr. and wife Carolyn Davis of Livingston and Eddie Wayne Davis of Onalaska; sisters, Patsy Davis of Livingston and Lola Carr of Zavalla; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Davis; and nephews, Jason Wimberley and Ronnie Russell.

Pallbearers will be Tony Russell, Bobby Davis, James Russell, David Howard, Jason Oliver and Mike Laird and Emmett Eddings.

Honorary pallbearers will be Micah Miller, David Smith, Thomas Wallace and John Parnell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 West Frank Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 326, Broaddus, Texas 75929.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Trinity Baptist Church in Broaddus.
