Graveside services for Pamela Jean (Currie) Steel, 67, of Lufkin, will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pennington Cemetery with Rev. Brad Steel officiating.
Mrs. Steel was born February 6, 1947 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Thelmer B. and Claudine (Zoller) Currie, and died Thursday, November 13, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Steel had resided in Lufkin for many years and was employed with Brookshire Brothers for 22 years in the Warehouse division as a Fork Lift Operator. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, cooking, taking care of her grandbabies and family. She enjoyed canning, making clothes, and cooking jelly. She attended Lufkin Family Worship Center. The order for her life was Jesus first and family second.
Survivors include her children: daughter, Janice Johnson of Apple Springs, sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Diana Steel of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania and Timothy and Kathleen Steel of Lufkin, daughter, Paula Hanes of Lufkin, sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathon and Caryn Steel, Jason and Stephanie Steel, all of Lufkin; twenty-three grand and great grandchildren; sister, Kathleen Smith of Kennard; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Vicky Currie of Lufkin, brother, Andrew Currie of Corrigan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E. A. “Johnny” Steel, and her parents.
Pallbearers will be her sons.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Johnson, J. R. Johnson and Matthew Steel.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lufkin Family Worship Center, 1504 Fuller Springs, Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
