Gertrude Weems Conner

Funeral services for Gertrude Weems Conner, 97, of Lufkin, will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Brother Charlie Walker officiating. Interment will follow the services.

Mrs. Conner was born February 6, 1917 in Angelina County, Texas to Richard and Pearly (Berry) Weems, and died Thursday, October 30, 2014 in a local nursing home. She was a lifetime resident of Angelina County and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Conner enjoyed growing flowers and gardening.

Survivors include her daughter, Doris Conner of Lufkin; sister, Leola Canady of Bell Flower, California; nieces, Judy Schuessuler of Llano and Bobbie Havard Walker of Lufkin; special young men, Joshua Smithheart and Nick Lowery; and numerous other nieces, nephews and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy Conner; daughter, Carolyn Joyce Conner; four brothers; and three sisters.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel.
