Norman W. Ross

Funeral services for Norman W. Ross, 90, of Lufkin will be held Friday, October 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Vic Bass officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Mr. Ross was born July 11, 1924 in Houston, Texas to Vernon B. and Phyllis Mollie (Cress) Ross, and died Monday, October 27, 2014 in a local nursing home. Mr. Ross was a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942-1945. He retired from St. Regis Paper Mill following 35 years of service. Mr. Ross was one of the paper mill retirees that decorated the Angelina County Courthouse every Christmas season. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and served as Deacon at Cross Road Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Janice Kay and Bobby Reynolds of Lufkin and Nancy Ann and Jim Minton of Fulshear; daughter-in-law, Belinda (Ross) Hilliard of Lufkin; grandsons and spouses, Tony Reynolds of Lufkin, Todd and Tawnya Reynolds of Pearland, Scott and Donna Ross and Jeremy and Amy Ross, all of Lufkin; great-grandchildren, Addison, Blake and Kolson Reynolds, Sydney and Bailey Ross, Collin and Maci Ross; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolly Ruth “Dot” Ross; son, Norman Joe Ross; brother and sister-in-law, Laverne and Nell Ross; and sisters-in-law, Pauline Stephens and Mary Loyce Allen. Pallbearers will be Tony Reynolds, Todd Reynolds, Scott Ross, Jeremy Ross, Collin Ross, Blake Reynolds and Kolson Reynolds. Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Angers and Leon Sanches. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cross Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 5814 Old Union Road, Lufkin, Texas 75904 or the American Parkinson Disease Association, East Texas Chapter, 700 Olympic Plaza, Suite 904, Tyler, Texas 75701. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
