Funeral services for Elaine Cooper, 50, of Zavalla will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Zavalla First Baptist Church with Dr. Jacob Fitzgerald and Pastor Joel Hitchcock officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.
Ms. Cooper was born July 20, 1964 in Lufkin, Texas to Charles and Grenetta “Jo” (Wade) Cooper, and died Friday, October 24, 2014 at her residence. She was a lifetime resident of Zavalla.
Ms. Cooper was an Elementary school teacher at Zavalla ISD for 16 years. One of the most fulfilling parts of her teaching career was teaching and watching dyslexic children learn to read and progress. She was an active member at Zavalla First Baptist Church and taught GA’s for a number of years. Ms. Cooper loved spending time with her family outdoors in God’s creation. The joys of her life were her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph Havard and friend Ashley Hitchcock and Adam Havard and friend Miranda Jones, all of Zavalla; grandsons, Korbin Havard, Rancen and Canaan; parents, Charles and Jo Cooper of Zavalla; sister and brother-in-law, Liz and Robert Ray of Lufkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Walter and Darla Cooper and William and Fonda Cooper, all of Zavalla; father of her children, Dwayne Havard of Zavalla; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Preston Cooper, Matthew Cooper, Robert A. Ray, Aaron Kervin, Jeff Lee and Dalton Weaver.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Carroway Funeral Home in Lufkin.
