Jim B. Massingill

Funeral services for Jim B. Massingill, 83, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Trey Ainsworth officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Massingill was born October 15, 1931 in Lufkin, Texas to Glenn and Fannie (Aldredge) Massingill, and died Thursday, October 23, 2014 in a local hospital.

Mr. Massingill was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. He served in the U.S. Air Force as a special agent, and retired as Assistant Treasurer from Lufkin Industries following more than 37 years of service. Since retirement he had enjoyed his farm and loved working his cattle. He had been an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for 40 years. He served in many lay capacities there, and was a member of the Victory Sunday School class.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Massingill of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Walter Maddox of Jasper and Stacy and Bob Rundle of Sugar Land; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Joey Southern of Lufkin and Doug Southern of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Lindsey and Charles Slaten, Tessa and Jason Dominy, Ryan Rundle, Shelby Rundle, Reid Rundle, Jake Southern, Jessica Southern, John David Southern and Jameson Southern; great-grandchildren, Ally Walker, MacKenzie Slaten and Olivia Dominy; and special cousins, Sally and Jim Bob Odom, Patsy Head, and Nan and Don Davis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Jake Southern, Ryan Rundle, Reid Rundle, Bob Rundle, Walter Maddox, Dick McKay, Jason Dominy, Joe Head, and Jim Bob Odom.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Victory Sunday School class at Calvary Baptist Church.

The family extends special thanks to Dr. David Glenn and Becky Simcoe for their loving care of Jim.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
