Ruby Mae Powers Jones

Funeral services for Ruby Mae Power Jones, 92, of Huntington will be held Sunday, October 26, 2014 at 4:30 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Joe D. Stanley officiating. Interment will follow in the Blue Springs Cemetery in Etoile. Mrs. Jones was born May 30, 1922 in Etoile, Texas to Robert Bryant and Hallie Mae (Sewell) Powers, and died Wednesday, October 22, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Jones had resided in Angelina County since 1981. She was a supervisor at the Walgreens Warehouse for 26 years. Mrs. Jones enjoyed crocheting, gardening and fishing. She was of the Pentecostal faith. Survivors include her son, James Mitchell, Sr. of Huntington; grandson, James Mitchell, Jr. of Houston; great-grandchildren, Raven, Ryan and Megan Mitchell; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Yvonne Powers of Pollok; sister, Dollie Green of Lufkin; sister-in-law, Myrle Powers of Huntington; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Leroy Mitchell; second husband, John L. “Buddy” Jones; daughter-in-law, Johnie Mitchell; sisters, Hazel Lunsford, Bertie Hill, Irene Costlow, Rachel Sandefer and Julia Masterson; and brother, Herbert Powers. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Pentecostal Church of Lufkin, 3200 S. Medford Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
