Ivis A. Teer, Sr

Funeral services for Ivis A. Teer, Sr., 87, of Lufkin, will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church with Reverend Aubrey Knox officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park under the auspices of Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669, A.F. & A.M.

Mr. Teer was born March 6, 1927 in Trinity County, Texas to the late Donna Frances (Graham) and Augustus Allen Teer. He died Saturday, October 18, 2014 in a Lufkin hospital.

Mr. Teer was the retired General Freight Agent for AN&R Railroad, following more than 30 years of service. He was a 32° Scottish Rite Mason, life member of the Valley of Houston-Orient of Texas, member of Lufkin Masonic Lodge #669, A.F. & A.M., and the Sharon Shrine Temple in Tyler. Mr. Teer was a longtime member of Lufkin’s First Baptist Church, and a member of the Lufkin Kiwanis Club for many years. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army Air Corps during which time, he was stationed in the Philippines and was an Instrument Flying Instructor. Mr. Teer enjoyed golf, travel, and big band music, and had lived in Lufkin most of his life.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Terry Teer of Huntsville; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori Len and Kerry White of Lufkin; and grandchildren, Robert Allen Teer of Mooringsport, Louisiana, and Brooke White of Lubbock.

Mr. Teer was preceded in death by his wife, DeLois Johnson Teer, and a granddaughter, Crystal Len White.

Pallbearers will be Mark Thompson, Dan Johnson, Paul D. Johnson, Richard Craig, Derek Linton, and Caleb Linton.

Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Murray Sunday School Class, Lufkin Kiwanis Club, Karl Bozeman, Tommy McDaniel, and Howard Daniel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lufkin’s First Baptist Church, 106 E. Bremond, Lufkin, Texas 75901.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
