Funeral services for Vinez L. Minton, 85, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Vic Bass officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery. Mrs. Minton was born September 9, 1929 in Angelina County, Texas to the late William Fred and Lilly (Thigpen) Stephens, and died Thursday, October 16, 2014 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Minton was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She had worked as a courier for The Lufkin Daily News and as a Dietary Manager at Woodland Heights Hospital. Mrs. Minton was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Nancy Minton of Weston Lakes and Gary “Bucky” and Brenda Minton of Lufkin; grandsons, Brandon Minton and Chad Minton and wife Sara Minton; granddaughter, Tiffany Crain and husband William Crain; great-grandchildren, Mason Minton, Audrey Crain, Marisha Crain and Stephen Kedrowicz, Jr.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Larry Spell of Spring and Wilma and J.D. Roebuck of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank C. Minton in 1985. Pallbearers will be David Roebuck, Brandon Minton, Chad Minton, Scott Stephens, Larry Michael Spell and John Dowling. Honorary pallbearers will be the Southern Plainsmen and Clinton Stephens, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to GODTEL, 323 Moody Street, Lufkin, Texas 75901. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
