Funeral services for Paul F. Crawford, 79, of Pollok will be held Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ford Adkins and Pastor Winfred E. Johnson officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in the Gann Cemetery under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. Mr. Crawford was born October 29, 1934 in Angelina County, Texas to H.T. and Jannie (Simms) Crawford, and died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 in a local hospital. Mr. Crawford was a lifetime resident of Angelina County. He served as a Radarman in the U.S. Navy from January 1954 to November 1957, stationed in Guam. Mr. Crawford retired from Lufkin Industries following 35 years of service as a machinist. Mr. Crawford enjoyed being in the outdoors, gardening, working cattle, coon hunting and game roosters. He loved people and his family, especially his grandchildren. He never missed a ballgame or school event. Mr. Crawford was a mason in the Wells Masonic Lodge #915 A.F. & A.M. He was of the Baptist faith, and currently attended the Cross Timbers Cowboy Church. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Melba Jean Crawford of Pollok; son, Paul Gene Crawford of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Ronnie Ridgeway of Pollok; grandson, Colby Crawford and wife Lacey of Huntington; granddaughter, Kameryn Starr Ridgeway of Pollok; great-granddaughter, Clara Beth Crawford of Huntington; brother and sister-in-law, John and Janice Crawford of Pollok; nephew, Chad Crawford and wife Laurie of Austin; and a number of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Cassidy Grant Crawford; and brother, Kenneth Crawford. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Ridgeway, Colby Crawford, Chad Crawford, Justin Modisette, Kenny Modisette and Randy Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracy Martin, Bob Tucker, J.C. Crawford, Charlie Allen, Bobby Tucker and Stephen Martin. The family extends special thanks to Woodland Heights ICU, Memorial Specialty Hospital 6th Floor, Dr. Capellan, Dr. Nazeer, Dr. Meyers and Dr. Mir for their love and compassion during his time in their care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gann Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 3022, Lufkin, Texas 75903. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
