Mass of Christian Burial for Avery Ardell Bradley, 82, of Lufkin will be held Friday, September 26, 2014 at 12:00 noon at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church with Father Joe Kannampuzha officiating. Graveside services with military honors will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Mr. Bradley was born November 26, 1931 in Artesia, New Mexico to the late Katie (Nix) and Carl Bradley, and died Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Bradley graduated from Mineola High School and attended Southern Methodist University. He retired from Temple-Inland, Diboll, Texas, Marketing Department, after 33 years of service.
Mr. Bradley was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the Fourth Army Headquarters, Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, and Seventh Army Headquarters, Stuttgart, Germany.
His other activities were serving in the Farmers Branch Jaycees from 1958 to 1964, Elks Lodge #2334 from 1965 to 1975, and Irving Police Reserve from 1971 to 1975.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Margaret Piper Bradley, two brothers, Carlie of Mineola, Texas and Glenn of Irving, Texas, as well as one stepdaughter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Werneberg of Mineola, Texas, and brothers, Harley of Quitman, Texas, Jesse and Lynn of Mineola, Texas.
He is also survived by one special niece, Carla Clark and husband Rev. Keith Clark and one special granddaughter, Laura Anderson, also other nieces and nephews and numerous grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dick Kenley, Jack Sweeney, Leroy Lazarine and Pat Aldred.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Hospice in the Pines for their care of Mr. Bradley.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon Friday prior to the Mass.
