Floyd Leonard Brown

Funeral services for Floyd Leonard Brown, 76, of Lufkin will be held Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wilke officiating. Graveside services with military honors will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Brown was born March 6, 1938 in Texas City, Texas to Earnest and Lucy B. (Hamilton) Brown, and died Monday, September 22, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Brown served in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961 and retired from Memorial Health Systems of East Texas in Livingston where he was an x-ray technician. He had resided in Lufkin since 1997. Mr. Brown was an avid sailor. He and his wife sailed their boat to Guatemala. They also sailed the Eastern Caribbean and Virgin Islands. Mr. Brown was a member of the American Radiological Society and a member of Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Shirlan Brown of Lufkin; daughters, Elizabeth Ashley Hanks and husband Jeremy of Mauriceville, Christina Rives of Mauriceville, and Carla D. Brown of California; sons, Mark Richardson and wife Stacey of Hudson, and Philip Richardson and wife Pam of Lufkin; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Bonnie B. Hardwick of Midlothian; brother, Jerry H., Brown and wife Virginia of Morgan; two nieces; and three nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ernest Brown.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Carroway Funeral Home.
