Les Holder

Funeral services for William Leslie “Les” Holder, 71, of Huntington will be held Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Reverend Martin Doran and Reverend Bill Lanigan officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Grove Cemetery in Polk County.

Mr. Holder was born December 11, 1942 in Galveston, Texas to Clarence and Anibel (Smith) Holder, and died Sunday, September 14, 2014 in a local hospital.

Mr. Holder earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math from Stephen F. Austin and a Master’s of Science in Biology from SFA. He dedicated 48 years of his life to teaching high school math and science. Thirty-five of those years were spent with Huntington ISD. Mr. Holder was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Huntington.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Holder of Huntington; sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Jennifer Holder of Lufkin, Jeremy and Jana Holder of Huntington, Jeffrey and Stephanie Nuner of Robinson, Eric and Joyce Nuner of Lorena and J.B. and Kayli Dearing of Conroe; grandchildren, Sydney and Hayleigh Holder, McKay, Brady, and Kathryn Nuner, Emery, Addy, and Trammell Nuner and Henley Dearing; brothers and sisters-in-law, Smith and Tonya Holder of Richardson and Keith and Valerie Holder of Jones Creek; mother-in-law, Belle Trammell of Dumas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Tony Davidson, Jason Holder, Jeremy Holder, Jeffrey Nuner, Eric Nuner and J.B. Dearing.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Terry, Rick Garner and Skipper Murray.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
